About The Founder

Brendan McNamar is the founder of WiseWealth, Inc., an independent financial planning and Registered Investment Advisory firm. Brendan’s financial planning education started with an undergraduate degree in Accounting from George Mason University. After graduation Brendan held positions in the accounting and hospitality industries.

Brendan’s interest in financial planning and portfolio management started in earnest after reading a report in early 2001 that the wealthiest Americans net worth had increased by 10% while the stock market had decreased by about 11%. What were these very rich people doing that average people were not? (The answer is the wealthiest Americans receive high quality financial planning and investment advice. As a result they were much more diversified then the average American.) The quest for the answer to this question ultimately led to Brendan becoming a financial planner and portfolio manager.

Brendan received his Certificate in Financial Planning from Florida State University in June of 2002. In August of 2002 he completed the Financial Planning Association Residency Program. The Residency Program helps new planners apply financial planning academics to real life situations through case studies and role playing.

He then studied for and passed the rigorous, ten-hour comprehensive Certified Financial Planner™ examination in the summer of 2003 and will earn the right to use the CFP® mark after completing the CFP Board's work experience requirements.

After completing the examination process Brendan went to work for a NAPFA (fee-only) asset management firm with a $1,000,000 minimum account balance. While working for this firm Brendan realized financial planning and portfolio management can have the biggest impact on the lives of regular folks without quite so much money.

In 2005, he joined the Garrett Planning Network, the internationally leading and fastest growing alliance of Fee-Only financial planners, and established WiseWealth, Inc. so he could help people from all walks of life get the advice they need to make better financial decisions.

Brendan lives in Glendale, Arizona. He enjoys the outdoors, especially backpacking in the mountains. His most recent trips included Alaska’s Brooks Mountain Range and Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. He spends the second half of August every year in Boston Harbor, WA.
